EL TORREÓN,THE TOWER is a charming rural hotel located in Piedralaves, in the Tiétar Valley,
on the southern slopes of the Sierra de Gredos. As a result of their orientation, the weather is most
pleasant throughout the year, which in turn causes a variety of flora, full of pine trees, oaks, chestnuts,
olives, fig trees, palm trees, aspens, junipers, poplars, ashes and cedars. From the top of the Sierra
de Gredos, the streams run by gorges, all of which gives the environment magnificent landscapes.
The TOWER is an example of this spectacle of nature, with a garden of 4000 m2, where we can enjoy
plants from the vegetation of the area.
Piedralaves, Casavieja, Sotilllo of Adrada, and Adrada, have a wide range of nice nature. It has a
landscape of granite with cliffs. The erosion of centuries makes interesting shapes, with natural
pools by the Gorge Nuño Cojo, which brings the water into the river Tiétar, It
constitutes the natural environment of endemic species such as golden eagles, vultures and ibex.
It is also easy to see cranes, magpies, orioles, bee-eaters and others. Among the most common
animals that can be seen are the fox, rabbit, hare and wild boar, and in the fish species, trout and catfish.
In the village of Piedralaves we can enjoy the church of the late eighteenth century with its coffered ceiling; Saxon arched entrance and impressive Baroque altarpiece. Opposite the church, "the cross of love", 1681. Nearby, The Town Hall Square, with the Clock Tower at his side we can see the stones used to support the clubs, surrounding the plaza, allowing during the holidays to celebrate bullfights. The chapel of the Conception dates from 1500 and it was the early church and the hermitage of San Roque, patron of the town, dates from 1500 and it was rebuilt in 1775.
